		BE 18: OPENING A PRESENTATION   ENGLISH FOR PRESENTATION  
WARM UP  How often do you give presentations in your job?  Who do you usually present to?  Do you often have butterflies in your stomach before giving presentations?  
I. Vocabulary  Talks English  VOCABULARY  DESCRIPTION  SENTENCE  overhead projector  a piece of equipment that projects an image onto a wall or screen so that many people can see it  I gave that talk back in the days of overhead projectors and transparencies.   marker  a pen with a thick felt tip  “Can I have some markers?”  handout  a free document that gives information about an event or a matter of public interest, or that states the views of a political party, etc.  More information can be found in the handout.    ladies & gentlemen  Polite phrase often used to address an audience of men and women  “Ladies & gentlemen, on your right, is the building of the American Radiator Co.  flip chart  n. a pad of large paper sheets on a stand for presenting information  Participants also were asked to use markers and flip chart  body language  n. non-verbal communication through facial expressions, body movements etc  I could tell from her body language that she was angry.   
II.PRESENTATION  CHECK LIST  Arrange the following sentences in order(6 steps to give a presentation).   Outline the structure  Explain the topic is important for audience  Introduce yourself  “What comes when?” say when you’ll be dealing with each point.  Welcome the audience.  State your topic.
