WRITING 14 - FINAL Recording: Sum 100% The line graph tracks the expenditure of international visitors to the UK between 1980 and 2010, while the pie charts break down the purposes of their visits at the beginning and end of this timeframe. Overall, the data reveals the substantial growth in overseas visitors’ spending in the UK over the three decades surveyed. In terms of their motivations
for travel, while holidays remained the most significant draw, their relative share declined, giving way to rises in business travel and visits to friends and relatives. Looking first at visitor spending, in 1980, it stood at approximately £8 billion, and by 2010, this figure had climbed to about £10.6 billion, representing a total increase of over £2 billion. However, this upward trend was not entirely linear. The period was punctuated by fluctuations, most notably a spike in 1996, when spending surged to a peak of £12 billion. This peak was not sustained/ maintained, nevertheless, with a subsequent decline to about £9.7 billion in 2002. Although visitor spending bounced back / recovered thereafter, this recovery was not sufficient to bring the number back to the 1996 peak.

The bar chart compares how much money five organizations gave to developing countries annually / on an annual basis between 2008 and 2011. The remaining organizations exhibited fluctuating levels of support. It is also important to note that Organization 2 surpassed Organization 3 to become the top donor in the latter half of the period. Focusing first on Organizations 2 and 5, their trajectories / trends diverged sharply. Organization 2 initially provided approximately $1.3 billion, followed by a slight increase in 2009. By 2010, its financial support had surged to $2.4 billion, before experiencing a further, albeit more modest, increase of $200 million by
