How to classify other varieties? Many distinctive varieties of English Texts can be classified into some types, such as: + Chronological or non-chronological texts + Expressive writing (personal jottings that really represent no more than “thinking aloud” on paper”, transactional or functional writing (texts that get things done, aiming to inform, persuade, instruct or advise), and poetic writing (creative texts that entertain) + Texts divided into categories based on content, such as instruction texts, information texts, personal texts and narrative texts.
