Andragogy is the facilitation learning for adults, who are self-directed learners. Heutagogy is the management of learning for self-managed learners. Pedagogy: Children’s learning Andragogy: Adults learning Heutagogy: Self-directed learning Aspect Pedagogy Andragogy Heutagogy Definition The art and science of teaching children. The art and science of helping adults learn. The study of self- determined learning. Learner Dependency Learners are dependent on the teacher for guidance. Learners are more self- directed but still require structure. Learners are fully autonomous and self- directed. Focus of Learning Teacher-centered: teacher decides what, how, and when to learn. Learner-centered: learners are involved in planning and evaluating. Learner-determined: learners identify their needs and resources. Role of the Teacher Authority figure and primary source of knowledge. Facilitator who guides and supports learners. Mentor or coach, enabling learners to take control. Learning Approach Subject-focused, emphasizing content delivery. Problem-focused, emphasizing real- world applications. Process-focused, emphasizing adaptability and capability. Learning Motivation External (grades, rewards, or approval). Internal (desire for personal or professional growth). Intrinsic (self- fulfillment, curiosity, and passion). Key Assumptions Learners have little experience and rely on teacher expertise. Learners bring prior experience and are goal-oriented. Learners are capable of determining their own learning path. Examples of Application Classroom instruction for children or basic skill acquisition. Professional development workshops, adult education courses. Open-ended learning projects, self-guided online learning. 1.2 Flipped Classroom A flipped classroom is a type of blended learning where students are introduced to content at home and practice working through it at school.
