Microsoft also announced a planned acquisition of forty-nine percent of OpenAI, for $10 billion. On the economic potential of generative Al, the consulting firm McKinsey stated, "Our latest research estimates that generative AI could add the equivalent of $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion annually across the use cases we analyzed-by comparison, the United Kingdom's entire [gross domestic product] in 2021 was $3.1 trillion. These figures are significant, but the creative economy is one of the largest and most important in the world.
