41 - 45 Listen to a conversation between two friends. Choose the best answer for each question. Girl:I had an accident yesterday. Not a serious one, but I was a bit upset by it. Boy:Oh, dear? What happened? I mean, where were you? Girl:Well, do you know the crosswalk on 31st Street? Boy:The one on the corner of 10th Avenue and 31st? Girl:Yes, that’s it. I was on the sidewalk on 31st. You know it’s not very wide there. Boy:I know. I use it every day on my way to school. Girl:Right. Well, I was near the bus stop and there were a few people there, going to work or shopping, I guess. I wasn’t looking left or right, because I just met a girl from my old school. Suddenly, a young kid on a skateboard came racing along the sidewalk, moved to get round the pedestrians, and crashed into me. Boy:Oh, no! But you didn’t break anything, clearly! Girl:No, luckily, my coat was so big and he was so small that it didn’t really hurt. Boy:No police or ambulances, then? Girl:No. And the kid was so sorry that, in the end, I started talking to him about why he was skateboarding on a busy sidewalk. Boy:And I can guess what he said … because there’s no skate park in the city? But there are signs saying “No Skateboarding” in tons of places. Girl:Yes! But I guess they can’t ban skateboarding in all public places until they provide a safe place to enjoy the activity. Boy:Well, I think they should ban it near bus stops, for example.
