Overall, there are seven steps to manufacture sugar, beginning with the growing and harvesting of sugar canes and ending with dried and cooled crystal sugar as the final product. First, sugar canes are grown in the field until they are 12 to 18 months old. When the plants are ready to be harvested, they are collected either by manual labor or machinery, then transferred to the processing plant to be pressed in the third step of production. In the fourth stage, the juice from crushed sugar canes is purified through a limestone filter. Next, the purified juice undergoes heat treatment in an evaporator, where the water content is removed, thickening the extract into syrup. Centrifugal force is utilized in the subsequent step of production to separate the sugar crystals from the syrup.
