For 6-7 fig coaches & experts: Guide: How to start your email list & get your first 1,000 ready-to-buy subscribers using the CLT method (Bookmark this so you can come back easily, best viewed on desktop) I used to have 30k+ email subscribers from my previous biz, but that’s a story for another day. Currently, I have 3.3k active email subscribers: (screenshot from BirdSend – the email marketing tool my small team & I run for coaches that has sent 1.6+ billion emails) “Active” = subs who opened my emails in the last 180 days. - Yes, my email list is small. I don’t need a big list to be making 6-fig (more below). - Yes, my main biz is BirdSend. I provide email marketing done-for-you services & coaching on the side. Who is this NOT for / for This guide is NOT for folks who:
- Hate creating content - Want “passive” income - Don’t have a valuable skill - Wanna get clients “automagically” without putting in the work - Believe their social followers are forever safe (account will never go kaput) This guide is FOR folks who: - Have expertise in a certain field - Love or are open to creating content - Want a predictable way to get eyeballs to their offers + content – and more importantly sales - Hate shaking their booty on TikTok or posting cringey selfies on IG, FB, LinkedIn, X or ____ - Fear losing their social followers overnight & getting their entire biz wiped out faster than a pizza delivery guy on a Friday night - Suspect there’s a simpler way to build a buyer-ready email list without complex 10-step funnels, long-azz webinars, or expensive ads - Wanna build an asset they OWN forever (i.e. nobody can take their audience regardless if their social accounts get shut down or Google comes up with another panda or monkey update that screws their ranking)
Why folks struggle to build a ready-to-buy email list Most folks struggle to build an email list (that’s ready to buy) because: 1. They treat “building an email list” as an afterthought 2. They use “subscribe to my newsletter” to build their list 3. They use templates, checklists, cheat sheets, etc as lead magnets 1/ They treat “building an email list” as an afterthought What’s going on in their mind: “I’m doing great with social / Google traffic. I don’t have time to build an email list. And frankly, I don’t see why I should be building it.” They don’t believe their social accounts can get shut down.
“It might happen to other people. But I’m playing by the platforms’ rules, so it won’t happen to me.” The thing is... even if we play by their rules, our accounts can still get shut down. While social media & Google is great for getting traffic, we do NOT own them. The platforms own them. Our accounts can be closed anytime. And when they do? We lose all our followers (audience) OVERNIGHT. Here’s an example – YouTube channel LeafyIsHere with 4.9 million subscribers was permanently banned:
