Correct:  She is not only intelligent but also hardworking. ( not only ......but also)  Either you start now or you will miss the deadline.( either .....or)  He not only won the race but also set a new record. ( not only....but also)
In Comparisons When making comparisons, ensure the elements being compared are in the same form. Incorrect:  Running is faster than to walk.  She is smarter and dedicated than her sisters. Correct:  Running is faster than walking. (all gerunds)  She is smarter and more dedicated than her sisters.
