WEEK 33 Preparing date: April 23 rd , 2024 PERIOD 129 Teaching date: April 26 th , 2024 UNIT 19: PLACES OF INTEREST LESSON 3 (4, 5, 6) I. OBJECTIVES By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. Knowledge and skills - Read a postcard and complete five gapped sentences. - Write sentences about a place of interest - Revise the target language by making a poster and presenting it to the class. 2. Competences - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks. - Self-control & independent learning: perform reading and writing tasks. 3. Attributes - Show their cultural comprehension, sense of identity and belonging. 4. The disabled: Do the project: Places of interest, following the teacher’s guide. II. MATERIALS - Pupil’s book: Page 63 - Teacher’s guide: Pages 279, 280, 281 - Website hoclieu.vn - Flash cards/ pictures and posters (Unit 19) - Computer, projector, … III. PROCEDURES Teacher’s activities Student’s activities 1. Warm up (5’) a. Objectives - To revise the chant of Unit 19. b. Content - Chant and do actions. c. Expected outcomes - Pupils can say the chant with the correct rhythm and pronunciation. d. Organisation - Play the recording for pupils to listen to. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and chant along. Encourage them to clap or do the actions while chanting. - Call two or more groups to take turns listening to and repeating the chant, while the rest of the class claps or do the actions. - Praise pupils if they perform well. - Listen to the chant. - Listen to the chant again and chant along. 2. Practice Activity 1-4. Read and complete. (7’) a. Objectives - To read and show their understanding of the text about Santosa Island through completing the table. b. Content - Activity 4. Read and complete. c. Expected outcomes - Pupils can read and show understanding of the text and complete the table. d. Organisation Step 1: Tell pupils the goal of the activity and explain that they should read the text and complete the table. Check comprehension. Step 2: Do the first gap with the class as an example. Have pupils look at the table and draw their attention to the first gap (Place that means the place of interest). Then let them read the text and find appropriate in formation (e.g. Santosa Island, in Singapore) to fill in the gap. Check comprehension. Step 3: Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently. Go around the classroom and offer help where necessary. Step 4: Tell pupils to swap books with a partner and check the answers together. Then write the correct answers on the board. Ask pupils to look at the board and check their answers again. Extension: For a more able class, invite one or two pupils to look at the table and tell the class about Santosa Island. For example: Santosa Island, is a famous place of interest in Singapore. You can go there by plane. You can visit - Pupils pay attention to the two paragraphs and read them as a class. - Pupils look at the incomplete sentences and find the information in the postcard to complete the missing words. Pupils read the completed sentence in chorus. - Do the same with sentences 2,3,4,5. - Pupils swap books with a partner, then check answers as a class. - Pupils look at the board and check their answers again.

Explain that they should answer the suggested questions and use the gapped sentences (see Input) to write the text, using their own information. Check comprehension. It is very beautiful and exciting. It is about two hundred kilometres from my village. I can go there by coach.
