Arkansas State Criminal Code 1. Homicide & Assault §1.01 First-Degree Murder ● The intentional and premeditated killing of another person. ● Includes killings committed with malice aforethought. ● Penalty: 25-minute jail sentence. §1.02 Second-Degree Murder ● The intentional killing of another person without premeditation. ● Includes acts demonstrating extreme recklessness or disregard for human life. ● Penalty: 20-minute jail sentence. §1.03 Manslaughter ● The unlawful killing of another person without malice. ● Voluntary Manslaughter: Killing in the heat of passion due to provocation. ● Involuntary Manslaughter: Killing due to reckless or negligent actions. ● Penalty: 15-minute jail sentence. §1.04 Negligent Homicide ● Causing the death of another person through criminal negligence. ● Includes vehicular homicide due to reckless driving or intoxication. ● Penalty: 10-minute jail sentence. 2.
