WEEK 21 Preparing date: January 20 th , 2024 PERIOD 81 Teaching date: January 22 nd , 2024 UNIT 12: OUR TET HOLIDAY LESSON 2 (1, 2, 3 I. OBJECTIVES By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. Knowledge and skills - Understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering questions about where someone will go at Tet; - Correctly say the phrases my grandparents’ house, a fireworks show, a New Year party, a flower festival and use Where will you go at Tet? – I’ll go to _____. to ask and answer questions about where someone will go at Tet; - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple exchanges in relation to the topic “Our Tet holiday”. 2. Competences - Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to ask and answer questions about where someone will go at Tet. - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs and groups to complete the learning tasks. - Self-control & independent learning: perform pronunciation and speaking tasks. 3. Attributes - Show their pride in the traditional holiday in their country. 4. The disabled: Practice reading vocab, following the teacher’s guide. II. MATERIALS - Pupil’s book: Page 14 - Audio tracks 15, 16 - Teacher’s guide: Pages 198, 199, 200 - Website hoclieu.vn - Flash cards/ pictures and posters (Unit 12) - Computer, projector, … III. PROCEDURES Teacher’s activities Student’s activities 1. Warm up (5’) a. Objectives - To revise vocabularies. b. Content - Game: Missing letters c. Expected outcomes - Pupils can remember and say the phrases about Tet holiday correctly. d. Organisation - Ask pupils if they remember the previous vocabulary about the topic “Our Tet holiday” – what people do to - Pupils name the activities people do for Tet.
prepare for Tet. - Explain how the game is played. Divide the class into 4 teams. One pupil from each team comes to the front and looks at the picture and words on the board. The one who raises the hand up first ha s the right to answer. Each letter means 1 point. - Have pupils read the words aloud after showing the answer(s). Pictures (make banh chung, make spring rolls, do the shopping, buy a branch of peach blossoms, decorate the house) 2. Presentation Activity 1-1. Look, listen and repeat. (7’) a. Objectives - To understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering questions about where someone will go at Tet. b. Content - Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat. c. Expected outcomes - Pupils can understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts focusing on asking and answering questions about where someone will go at Tet. d. Organisation - T elicits the new words + fireworks show: màn bắn pháo hoa (picture) + New Year Party:bữa tiệc năm mới (picture) + flower festival: lễ hội hoa (picture) - T models (3 times). - T writes the words on the board. - Checking: Rub out and remember - Pupils listen to the rules. - Pupils raise hands to get the chance to answer. - Pupils read aloud the words. - Ss listen and answer - Ss listen and repeat + Choral repetition (3 times). + Individual repetition (3 ss) - Ss take note - Ss look, remember and write
- The disabled: Practice reading vocab. Step 1: Have pupils look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures (see Input). Step 2: Ask pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen. Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat. Repeat the same procedure with Picture b. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. Step 3: Invite a few pairs to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the sentences in the recording. Step 4: Draw their attention to the question Where will you go at Tet? and the answer I’ll go to my grandparents’ house in the countryside. Tell pupils that they are used to ask and answer questions about where someone will go at Tet. - The disabled: Practice reading vocab. - Context a: In Linh’s house, Mary and Linh talking about Linh’s activity for Tet Mary: What are you doing, Linh? Linh: I’m decorating my house for Tet. - Context b: Mary asking Linh about Linh’s activity at Tet Mary: Where will you go at Tet? Linh: I’ll go to my grandparents’ house in the countryside. Activity 2-2. Listen, point and say. (7’) a. Objectives - To correctly say the phrases and use - Pupils look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures. - Pupils look at Picture a and listen to the recording. Pupils listen to the recording again, sentence by sentence, and repeat individually and in chorus. - Pupils listen to the recording again and repeat individually and/ or in chorus sentence by sentence. - Pairs of pupils come to the front of the classroom to listen to and repeat the sentences in the recording. - Pupils pay attention to the question and the answer. Pupils listen to the teacher’s explanation.

Organisation Step 1: Have pupils look at the pictures and elicit the places in the pictures. Step 2: Have pupils point at Picture a, listen to the first part of the recording and repeat the phrase (my grandparents’ house). Repeat the same procedure with the other three pictures. Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times. Check comprehension. Step 3: Point at the bubbles and have pupils listen to the next part of the recording and repeat Where will you go at Tet? – I’ll go to my grandparents’ house. Point at Picture a and have pupils listen and repeat the sentences until they feel confident. Repeat the same procedure with Pictures b, c and d. Step 4: Have pupils work in pairs and practise asking and answering the question Where will you go at Tet? – I’ll go to ____. using speech bubbles and Pictures a, b, c and d. Step 5: Invite a few pairs to point at the pictures and say the questions and answers in front of the class. - Pupils look at the pictures and elicit the places in the pictures. - Pupils point at Picture a, listen to the first part of the recording and repeat the phrase. Pupils follow the teacher’s instructions with the other three pictures. Pupils repeat the phrases a few times. - Pupils listen to the next part of the recording and repeat. Pupils point at Picture a, listen and repeat the sentences. Pupils follow the teacher’s instructions with the other three pictures. - Pupils work in pairs to practise asking and answering the question, using speech bubbles and Pictures a, b, c and d. - Pairs of pupils point at the pictures and say the questions and answers in front of the class.
