Assignment 2: For Students Placed in East Lampung Regency Project Title: Desktop Study: The Role of Mangrove Ecosystems in East Lampung and a Proposal for a Community-Based Awareness Campaign Background: The coastline of East Lampung, particularly the area surrounding Way Kambas National Park, is characterized by extensive and vital mangrove ecosystems. These forests serve critical functions as coastal buffers, fish nurseries, and carbon sinks. However, they face significant threats from land conversion for aquaculture and pollution. This project focuses on understanding the vital role of these mangroves and designing a campaign to communicate their importance. Project Aims: • To describe the ecological and economic importance of mangrove ecosystems in coastal East Lampung, based on secondary data. • To identify the primary threats to mangrove sustainability in this region. • To design a "Campaign Toolkit" that could be used by local partners to educate the community. Deliverables: You will produce a Campaign Toolkit (formatted as a 5-7 slide presentation) containing draft campaign materials.
