MODULE 4 STRUCTURAL FRAMING SYSTEMS INSTRUCTOR: JOHN LORENZ S. TUALA
MODULE DETAILS Module Description Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this chapter, the student should be able to know and learn the following: This module aims to introduce the different reinforced concrete structural framing systems used to resist the different types of loads. CO 1. Understand the process involved in the design of reinforced concrete framed structures. Gravity Load Resisting System Lateral Load Resisting System CO 2. Demonstrate how to design a reinforced concrete structure such as a building.
OUTLINE Load Path Gravity Load Resisting System Lateral Load Resisting System Floor Assemblies
LOAD PATH • The first part of the detailed structural analysis and design is the understanding of the flow of the load through the structural members. • The track through which load flows is referred to as the load path. • Load path must be continuous to ensure structural stability. • Joints connecting the structural members play an important role in ensuring a continuous load path. • In addition, more load travels to stiffer members.
