KENEP CONSULTANCY & SERVICES Page 5- 1 KCS/SPEG/405-EIA-0918-2321 CHAPTER 5 This chapter provides information and discuss the following aspects: 5.1 A description of the project concept with the following details: size and capacity, land requirements, raw materials, energy source and consumption, water source and consumption, labor requirements, transportation, support facilities, investment, market, and special infrastructural requirements 5.2 Maps and diagrams (photographs might also be useful to describe some projects) 5.3 A summary of the technical, economic, and environmental features that is essential to the project 5.4 Proposed project implementation schedule and project lifespan (wherever applicable) 5.5 Comparison with the existing plant/project in Malaysia or elsewhere 5.6 Operation and maintenance activities 5.1 A description of the project concept with the following details: size and capacity, land requirements, raw materials, energy source and consumption, water source and consumption, labor requirements, transportation, support facilities, investment, market, and special infrastructural requirements 5.1.1 PROJECT LOCATION The proposed bauxite mining operation is located in Bukit Goh and Bukit Kuantan, Mukim Kuala Kuantan, District of Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur. Previously, bauxite mining has been carried out at the proposed Project area. Some area is half mined and being stopped by the state government until further approval. The proposed Project area comprises of a flat land with several undulating terrain with contours ranging from about 4 m to 89 m above mean sea level.

KENEP CONSULTANCY & SERVICES Page 5- 2 KCS/SPEG/405-EIA-0918-2321 Kampung Padang Perdana is located adjacent to the proposed Project area, which is lies at the southern site (about 20m in distance). There are existing Felda oil palm plantations, Bukit Goh and Bukit Kuantan, located within the proposed Project area. Rancangan Tanah Pemuda (RTP) Bukit Goh is situated approximately 500m southern of the proposed site. KOTASAS is located about 1.5 km southern from the proposed Project site. Kuari Bukit Ketam Sdn. Bhd. is situated about 2km north of the proposed Project site. The quarry is currently operating. Meanwhile, Kampung Padang and Kampung Melayu are located about 3km southern and 4km eastern from the proposed site area. Bukit Sagu and Bukit Kuin are located about 3km northwest and 4km southwest from the proposed Project site, respectively. The location of the proposed bauxite area is at Latitude N 3°56'22.95" and Longitude E 103° 16'47.49". Figure 5-1 shows the Key Plan of the proposed Project site while Figure 5-2(a)-(b) show the Location Plan of proposed Project site. Aerial Image Plan of the proposed Project site is shown in Figure 5-3. 5.1.2 LAND The Project site encompasses a total area of about 3,642.176 hectares (9,000.000 acres). The extraction works shall be subdivided into three (3) phases where involve with Block A, Block B and Block C. The mine production rate of maximum 170,000 TPM. However, the mine production rate will depend on the market demand. The remaining shall be utilized as site for proposed ore processing plant (washing), stockpile area, tailing retention area, sediment basins, buffer zone, haulage road, wastewater treatment plant and other mine infrastructure and facilities. The proposed mining scheme plan is attached in Appendix 5-1. Before the implementation of the project, Project proponent will ensure only lots that signed agreements between the land owner and agreed to allow the lands to be mined. Referring to Mineral Development Act 1994, each Proprietary Mining Lease (PML) shall obtain Operational Mining Scheme (OMS) approval before operating any mining activity.
