Why? • Why do most children have difficulties waiting for a long time? • Do people queue consciously while waiting for the subway train? kill time ~ pass the time ~ while away the hours 1) Waiting when: traffic jams / stuck in gridlock, peak hours / popular restaurants: wait for a table / airport security lines: during holiday seasons/ waiting for the train 2) Various ways to kill time: scroll through social media: a go-to way to pass the time / reading books or e-books / playing mobile games 3) Not a fan of long waits → really test my patience → try to use the time productively: catch up on some reading or brainstorm for projects 4) Children often struggle with waiting because: they live in the moment and want things immediately + limited attention spans/become restless quickly + lack of developed coping mechanisms – they haven't yet learned how to keep themselves entertained 5) Queuing: in some places (Tokyo or London), people fall in line very consciously, while in others, it's more of a free-for-all / try to cut in line + depends on how rush hour is managed READING • Why are many people so keen on reading? • Is reading for fun or for work?
