Expected Utility Theory It was first formalized by Daniel Bernoulli in the 18th century and later developed by economists such as John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern in the mid-20th century. The theory proposes that individuals evaluate risky choices by considering the possible outcomes, their associated probabilities, and the utility (or satisfaction) derived from each outcome.
