Toxocara vitulorum • Ascarids of cattle and buffaloe- Toxocara vitulorum • Adult worm exclusively found in calves • Major route of infection –Transmammary transmission • The larvae reach maturity by 4 weeks • Major clinical signs : Diarrhoes, colic, mud coloured faeces, stetorrhoea • Butyric acid odour for breath.
Toxocara vitulorum • Location : Small intestine • Adult worm : Soft translucent appearance • Egg : Sub globular , thick pitted • Treatment • Pyrantel pamoate -7.5mg/kg body weight 10-14 days • Any broad spectrum anthelmintic After one month • No need of piperazine salts
