2 ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the feasibility and transferability of “Green Social Prescribing” in Hong Kong through evaluation of key opportunities and challenges across domains of the execution system, urban planning and spatial design, cultural perception and receptivity, and other relevant supporting tools. In addition, given the contrast of demographics, geographical and cultural characteristics with the Western contexts, where is dominating the existing literature articles about “Green Social Prescribing”, this paper compares and points out the significant differences on the factors. In the light of the multi-stages qualitative analysisfollowing the collection of data from interviews, GIS tools and observations, it is found that spatial interventions play a more critical role in the context of Hong Kong when the Western contexts tend to focus on the system and workforce capacity. Thus, this study would ultimately suggest a compatible and sustainable “Green Social Prescribing” model to be implemented in Hong Kong, particularly highlighting the urban planning and spatial designs, to streamline the policy implication process and maximize its effectiveness in possible future. All in all, this research contributes to the insignificant amount of “Green Social Prescribing” research in Asia and specifically in the local context of Hong Kong, thus, supporting the local policymakers with evidence-based research on the pilot implementation of Green Social Prescribing, which is a new concept in Asia, for a sustainable development of Hong Kong’s healthcare system.
