INTRODUCTION: • Aortic valve disease (AVD) affects 0.9% of the population. • The disease tends to increase in older adults (> 65 years). • Thickening, sclerosis and calcification lead to damage to the valve leaflets, resulting in aortic valve pathology (aortic valve stenosis and insufficiency). • Congenital abnormalities of the aortic valve affect the valve after the fourth decade of life.
