REVIEW: REPORTED SPEECH (Ôn tập câu tường thuật gián tiếp) II. QUESTION WORDS BEFORE TO INFINITIVE (Từ để hỏi trước to - V (nguyên mẫu)) 1. Chúng ta có thể sử dụng các từ để hỏi như: who, what, where, when, how trước một to- V (động từ nguyên mẫu) để nói về một tình huống khó khăn hay điều gì đó không chắc chắn. Ex: We don’t know who we should contact. Chúng tôi không biết chúng tôi nên liên hệ với ai. We don’t know who to contact. Chúng tôi không biết nên liên hệ với ai. Từ để hỏi WHY không được sử dụng trước một động từ nguyên mẫu có to. 2. Từ để hỏi + to- V(nguyên mẫu) được sử dụng để tường thuật gián tiếp các câu hỏi về những điều nên làm. Ex: “What should I do?” she said. “Tôi nên làm gì đây? ” cô ấy nói. She wondered what to do. Cô ấy tự hỏi nên làm gì. 3. Đối với các câu hỏi nghi vấn, khi tường thuật gián tiếp, chúng ta có thể sử dụng “whether + to- V(nguyên mẫu)”. Lưu ý, trong trường hợp này “if” không được sử dụng. 1. Thông thường động từ “be” không được nhấn mạnh khi xuất hiện giữa hoặc đầu câu khẳng định hoặc một câu hỏi. Ex: She was stressed. Cậu ấy bị căng thẳng. Are you worried about something?
