One issue is that various commercials, particularly those for cosmetic products, promote unrealistic beauty standards, which may cause their audiences, especially teenagers, to become obsessed with body image and idealism. This can lead to low self-esteem as well as several mental disorders such as depression if people fail to achieve their idea of perfection. To begin with, consumers can boycott companies marketing unattainable expectations and start to give preference to those that promote a healthy body image. This can motivate several companies to change their marketing approaches into more positive ones. The second approach could be for the government to formulate stricter policy in terms of the authenticity of advertisements. For instance, the authorities should impose a heavy fine on companies which take advantage of their commercials to make inaccurate statements or create false impressions to sell their products.
