Engineering Graphics and Design Unit 1 1. A rectangular plot of land area 0.45 hectare, is represented on a map by a similar rectangle of 5 square cm. Calculate R. F. Of the scale of the map. Also draw a scale to read upto single meter from the map. The scale should be long enough to measure upto 400 meters. 2. A car is running at a speed of 50 km/hour. Construct a diagonal scale to show 1 km by 3 cm and to 6 km. Mark also on the scale the distance covered by the car in 5 minutes 28 seconds. 3. An area of 144 sq. Cm on a map represent an area of 36 sq. Km on the field. Find the R.F. of the scale and draw a diagonal scale to show kilometres, hectometres and decametres and to measure upto 10 kilometres. 4. A 3.2 cm long line represents a length of 4 meters. Extend this line to measure length upto 25 meters and show on it units of meter and 5 meters. Show the length of 17 meters on this line. 5. The R.F. of a scale showing miles, furlong and chain 1/50688. Draw a scale to read upto 5 miles and show on it, the length representing 3 mile 5 furlong 3 chains. 6. A room of 1728m3 volume is shown by a cube of 216m3 volume. Find R.F. and construct a plain scale to measure upto 42m. Mark a distance of 22m on the scale. 7. Explain Dimensioning . Give various methods of Dimensioning. 8. Explain briefly about the conventional line types and their usage. 9. Explain Lettering with appropriate examples. 10. A cube of 5cm represents a tank of 8000cubic metre volume. Find the R.F and construct a scale to measure upto 60m and mark a distance of 47m . Indicate R.F of the scale.

7. The top view of a 75 mm long line measures 55 mm. The line is in the V.P., its one end being 25 mm above the H.P. Draw its projections. 8. The front view of a line, inclined at 30o to the V.P. is 65 mm long. Draw the projections of the line, when it is parallel to and 40 mm above the H.P., its one end being 30 mm in front of the V.P. 9. Differentiate between 1st angle projection and 3rd angle projection. 10. Draw the isometric view of a cylinder of base 40 mm diameter and axis 65 mm long.
UNIT-3 1. Explain the importance of AutoCAD in Engineering Drawing? 2. Write Benefits and Limitations of CAD. 3. Explain Basic Co-ordinate system in CAD? 4. Explain SNAP, GRID, O-Snap, in autocad? 5. Explain the use of Polar and ortho status bar commands? 6. Explain the following commands with example:LAYER, LIMITS, UNITS? 7. Write any 6 names of CAD software. 8. What is CAD? 9. Explain how to set limit in AUTOCAD with example? 10.Write steps to prepare following drawing in AUTOCAD using: i. Absolute cartesian coordinate system ii. Relative coordinate system iii. Polar coordinate system Assume point A as staring point. Coordinate of A is (20,20).
