Hearing vs Listening • An involuntary act of perceiving sound and receiving sound waves or vibration through your ears • An act of hearing a sound and understand what you hear • A skill that let the sound you hear go through your brain to process the meaning of it • One of the five senses and just happens all the time – whether you like or not – unless you have an earing problem • A choice to hear and analyze what you hear • Psychological → conscious level → concentration is required so that your brain process meaning from words and sentences → leads to learning • Physiological → subconscious level and non concentration is required • Use your ears only • Use your body’s different senses (sense of hearing, seeing or touching)
