Craig Giles, the cookie boy When Craig Giles was six, he told his mother he didn’t like taking the bus to school. All his teachers had cars, and he wanted to get her a car to drive him there too. He had the idea of selling snacks to pay for one. With his mother’s help, he started Mr. Craig’s Cookies business. Craig and his mother spent a long time learning to bake. When Craig was ready to start selling his cookies, he wasn’t sure if any customers would want to buy them, but everyone immediately loved them! Then Craig’s mum had an idea — she wanted Craig to save the money he made, so he could go to college one day. Making cookies wasn’t easy. “They were either too hard or too soft,” explains Craig’s mum. They didn’t want to buy a costly new cooker. But then one day last month, they baked some more cookies and tried them. It was an amazing moment — they both immediately knew that the cookies tasted just right! The cookies are made from the best ingredients — including sugar. Craig understands that many of his customers want to eat things that are good for them. And that’s why he now makes low-sugar cookies as well. Craig’s mother has been an important part of her son’s success. She explains, “Cookies taught me about business.
