GENERAL SYSTEMIC STATES Prepared by Dr. Hussam Mohamed Mohamed Ibrahim Professor of Internal Medicine Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Internal medicine and Infectious Diseases Internal Medicine – General Program – 4th Level Students
ACUTE PHASE RESPONSE The acute phase response is a complex early-defense system activated by trauma, infection, stress, neoplasia, and inflammation. Although non-specific, it serves as a core of the innate immune response, involving physical and molecular barriers and responses that serve to prevent infection, clear potential pathogens, initiate inflammatory processes, and contribute to resolution and the healing process.
