Greeting/ Feedback Ask students to share how they felt about writing their most recent piece of writing (Letter/Persuasive)  Did they find it easy or difficult?  What did they enjoy about this task?  Ask some students to share what they wrote about Present feedback from past essays You may also choose to present a model essay. General feedback examples  Paragraphs- what they are and how they are used  Word choice- highlight the use of a thesaurus  Remind students that if they did not submit their work today, it cannot be marked. In order to get the most out of the writing programme, students should always hand in their work on time. Focus 1: Quick Writes The QW activities are set up to tie in with the topic. It is a brainstorming and discussion aspect of the class. Students need to think quickly, much like in exam conditions, and respond to the mini-tasks to the best of their ability. Set a timer for 40 seconds (recommended) or choose a time you wish to spend on each Quick Write activity. Time should not exceed 2 minutes per topic. Ask students to write as much as they can about the topics. Today’s Quick Writes  What is the best smell?  Write about a time you went swimming.  Have you ever been lost? Describe how you felt.  Using your five senses write about this picture.
