1 CHAPTER TWO Service Benefits 2.01Salary 1. All staff will be entitled to a fixed monthly salary. This will be determined according to the Salary Structure of BRAC or Appointment Letter. Salary of all staff will be disbursed within last three (03) working days of each month. 2. Salary will be disbursed after deducting staff contribution to Provident Fund, income tax, transportation bill, excess payment, loan instalment and any other subscription. 3. According to HRPP Leave without Pay, unadjusted IOU, advance arrears etc. will also be deducted. 4. Salary deduction as a means of punishment is prohibited. 2.01.01 Annual Inflation Adjustment If inflation rate is 3% or more, salary will be adjusted accordingly in April of every year. If inflation is less than 3% staff will get an Inflation Allowance, which will be adjusted to scales of next year. (The changes in this clause is effective from April 1, 2022) 2.02 Festival Allowance All regular and service staff will receive two festival allowances in a year. Each allowance will be equivalent to one month’s basic salary and will be paid as per following rules. Staff who draws consolidated salary, half of the salary should be considered as basic salary. 1. All regular, service staff and contractual (whose joining date is June 12, 2016 and onwards) will get a festival allowance on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The other festival allowances will be paid to Muslim staff on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha; to Hindu staff on the occasion of Durga Puja; to Buddhist staff on the occasion of Budha Purnima; to tribal / indigenous staff of Chittagong on the occasion of Biju festival and to Christian staff on Christmas. 2. Festival allowance will be disbursed 15 (fifteen) days before the festival day. The allowance will be based on the basic salary of the previous month of festival. Staff whose last working day is before festival date will not be eligible for festivalbonus. 3. Festival allowance will be available for the period of Maternity Leave with Pay and staff may draw the allowance when she is on leave. 4. Newly joined staff will be eligible for full festival bonus. However, staff joining date must be prior to the festival date, otherwise s/he will be eligible for the next festival bonus.

3 be required. Besides, in special cases concerned Director can allow staff to avail transport for official purpose. 8. Vehicle allotted to one staff cannot be used by another. 9. With the approval of the Programme Head, transport can be used to carry programme materials, equipment etc. 10. Office vehicle will not be used for personal purpose during the office hour. But in case of emergency health issues, staff may avail the facility with approval of the concerned Director. 11. Staff will not allow guest in the office vehicle without approval of concerned Director. 12. Staff can make personal transport requisition by applying online. Generally, for personal use mileage will be calculated from garage to garage. But if the vehicle is used for both official and personal purpose, personal usage will be determined after deducting the official usage from the entire mileage. For personal usage the user will have to pay an amount fixed by the Transport Department. 13. All kinds of official mails will be disbursed by the Assistant of Logistics Department. Official transport cannot be used for this purpose. 14. The drivers will follow the driving rules determined by Transport Department. 2.04.02 Transport facility for Directors 1. Office will arrange transport for Directors for personal and official purpose. 2. Office will bear the cost of Car Maintenance and Fuel and driver’s’ salary. 3. Overtime of driver and tolls will be borne by office till 11:00 pm within Dhaka city. Overtime for private use of car after 11:00 pm will be borne by the Director. 2.04.03 Car scheme for senior management staff (BRAC and BRAC Enterprises): Eligibility and procedures: Car Loan 1. Staff of Grade 9 to 11 will be eligible to apply for car loan (Annexure 14). 2. The loan period will be six years with 0% interest. 3. Payment of the loan will be made through equal monthly instalments which will be deducted from the staff’s salary. 4. The staff may pay the full outstanding balance of the loan at any time. 5. Staff of grade 9 to 11 will get monthly fixed amount as car allowance. There will be no allocated yearly km as free of cost.

In case of availing loan facility, no subsidy will be provided. 8. Eligible staff can apply for another loan after 5 years by paying full arrears. In case of second loan staff must pay back the entire amount (0% interest) by next 6 years. No loan will be granted for third time in a service tenure. 9. Staff of Grade 12 and above are eligible for full time vehicle. Fixed allowance will be applicable for Grade 12 and above in case of using personal vehicle (own by the staff or staff’s spouse or staff’s parents). 10. If any staff of Grade 9 to 11 who is interested to use pick and drop from office will pay Taka 4000 per month. 11. In case of separation of a staff from BRAC, he/ she should pay arrears before getting Release Letter. 12. BRAC may change or amend the allowance and the scheme at any time by giving written notice. 2.05.01 Special Allowance for Recruitment Purpose During recruitment and selection process on weekends or public holidays, staff members who serve as exam coordinator/ examiner/ interview panel member or any other relevant role will be entitled to a Taka 800 allowance per day. Those who attend the Assessment Center on weekends or annual holidays will be entitled to a Taka 1,000 allowance per day. (The changes in this clause is effective from June 1, 2024, ref: 07/2024) 2.05.02 Special Leave for Working on weekend/ annual holiday  Associate Director & above graded staff who will be on international travel on weekend(s) or annual holiday(s) for official purpose can avail one (01) day compensatory leave for each travel. He/ she needs to avail the compensatory leave within the following one (1) month after his/ her return. During international travel, if any staff takes leave and travels on weekend or holiday, he/ she will not be eligible for compensatory leave for that weekend or holiday.
