2 Definisi Metalurgi Metalurgi adalah ilmu dan teknologi tentang logam yang sangat penting untuk memahami bagaimana cara mengekstrak logam dari bijihnya, bagaimana memproses dan membentuknya, serta bagaimana meningkatkan sifatnya. Teknologi pengolahan dan pemurnian bijih nikel menggunakan proses Rotary Kiln – Electric Furnace – Converter yang digunakan PT MMP merupakan salah satu proses metalurgi untuk mengambil nikel dari bentuk alaminya (bijih nikel, kadar nikel 1.8%) menjadi produk setengah jadi yaitu nikel matte (kadar nikel 75 – 78%).
