Holy and Sacred Conduct i Introduction Education is not just about developing the intellect but also about forming the heart in the light of Christ. This book, Reinforcing Good Manners in Everyday Life: Holy and Sacred Conduct, is designed to guide Grade 5 students in living out Christian values through Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) and Christian Living Education (CLE). By harmonizing these two subjects, this book teaches students how to act with responsibility, compassion, and integrity while deepening their faith in Jesus Christ. At the heart of this book is Jesus, the perfect model of holiness and love, who invites each student to follow Him. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) states that “Christian education... is intended to make men and women capable of living as children of God” (CCC 1653). Through each lesson, students will grow in self-awareness, moral decision-making, and faith, shaping them into disciples who live out God’s will in their daily lives. Encountering Jesus Through the Lessons This book ensures that students develop a well-rounded character by harmonizing GMRC and CLE in a Christ-centered approach. GMRC helps them cultivate good conduct, while CLE strengthens their knowledge of the faith and deepens their personal relationship with Christ. Quarter 1: Knowing Ourselves in the Light of Christ • GMRC: Cultivating Self-Awareness and Responsible Actions • CLE: Foundational Topics – Exploring the Core Teachings of the Faith In this quarter, students learn about their personal strengths, responsibilities, and how their actions reflect their values. They come to understand that their lives have a purpose in God’s divine plan. The Catechism teaches that “the dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God” (CCC 1700). By knowing themselves and recognizing their gifts, they are inspired to use them for God’s glory. Quarter 2: Strengthening Family and Spiritual Life • GMRC: Family’s Role in Nurturing Good Habits • CLE: Spiritual Life – Deepening One’s Relationship with God through Prayer and Sacraments Students reflect on the role of family in shaping good values and habits. Just as Jesus lived in the Holy Family (Luke 2:52), students learn the
