DEFINTION OF SOCIALIZATION: ❖ According to peter woesely: “Process of transmission of culture, the process whereby men learn the rules and practices of social groups.” ❖ According to john J. Maccionis: “It’s a lifelong social experience by which individuals develop their human potential and learn culture.” 4. IMPORTANCE OF SOCIALIZATION: Socialization is crucial for individuals to connect and interact with others. It helps us develop social skills, empathy, and a sense of belonging. Through socialization, we learn societal norms, values, and traditions. It plays a vital role in personal growth, mental well-being, and building strong communities. 5. SOURCES OR AGENTS OF SOCIALIZATION: There are various agents or sources that contribute to socialization. These agents play a crucial role in shaping an individual's personality and social behavior. Here are the main agents of socialization. ➢ Family: The family is the primary and most influential agent of socialization. Children learn basic values, language, customs, and social roles from their parents or caregivers. Family interactions and relationships set the foundation for a child's social development. ➢ Peers:
