ANCHORAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT Personnel Handbook INTRODUCTION & OVERVIEW The primary duty of APD (Anchorage Police Department) is to protect and serve our communities in the most professional and compassionate way possible. We are responsible for patrolling Anchorage’s roadways, responding to calls of service and identifying/addressing crime ranging from speeding to murder. With the assistance of our Patrol Supervisors, Command Staff, and our divisions, we can ensure that the city of Anchorage remains safe for everyone.
