The word sociology is the combination of two words socio and logos Socio means the group or companionship and the word logos means the study. So, we can say that sociology the study of group or companionship. 3. DEFINTION OF SOCIOLOGY: ❖ According to Graham summer: “The science of society.” ❖ According to Durkheim: “The science of institutions.” ❖ According to Max Weber: “The study of social action.” 4. IMPORTANCE OF SOCIOLOGY: Sociology is crucial as it helps us understand how societies work, the impact of culture, and the connections between individuals and groups. It enables us to address social issues and improve our communities. 5. RELATIONSHIP OF SOCIOLOGY WITH OTHER SCIENCES: Sociology is a branch of social sciences that focuses on studying human society, its structures, interactions, and dynamics. It plays a vital role in understanding the complexities of human behavior and societal patterns. To comprehend its place within the broader field of social sciences, let's explore its relationship with other disciplines. What are Social Sciences? Social sciences encompass a group of academic disciplines that explore various aspects of human society and individual behavior. They use systematic methods of inquiry to analyze social phenomena, aiming to comprehend human interactions, culture, institutions, and their impact on individuals and societies. ❖Sociology and Anthropology: Sociology:
