PHARMD GURU Page 1 INTRODUCTION TO DRUG PRICE CONTROL ORDER: The Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995 is passed by the Central Government in conformity of powers given under Section 3 of “Essential Commodities Act, 1955”. It came into force on dated 6th January, 1995 repealing the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1987. OBJECTIVES: The Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995 has been passed with the following objectives: To implement provisions of new drugs policies announced in September, 1994. To exercise Government control over the prices of „Bulk Drugs‟ and „Drug Formulations‟, making them available at fair prices. To regulate production and distribution of bulk drugs and formulations.
