Risk Factors MCC – Older age: Mean age of MCC diagnosis is ~75 years – Male sex: Incidence in men vs women = 0.4–2.5 vs 0.18–0.9 per 100,000 PPY – UV exposure: ~95% of diagnosed cases are in the white population – Other malignancies: Increased risk in individuals with multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and malignant melanoma – Immunosuppression: Increased risk with organ transplant, HIV infection, and use of immunosuppressive medication – MCPyV infection (80% of MCC in Europe) Gauci M.L. et al, EJC 2022
